So I finally pulled the trigger on my own kitchen remodel. And this is why I’m excited and exhilarated (and slightly exhausted too). I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and eagerly anticipating cooking for myself and friends. I love to entertain and cook and this design is for both of those reasons.
For my small (under 75 square feet) kitchen, efficiency, organization and beauty are the guideposts. Along the way, the support of vendors has been amazing.
Research was key to my design. With Miele, I found an 18″ dishwasher that holds nine place settings. Liebherr introduced the CS1300 24″ free-standing refrigerator in the spring of 2014. The height of the refrigerator is 72″. Since I’m a petite 60″ in height, this overall height makes a big difference for my use.
In my condo building we only have access to electricity. But I’m a fan of induction cooking and I’m eager to use my 30″ Jenn Air cooktop along with the 27″ wall oven.
Beauty in design is the luxury element for my clients and projects. My Caesarstone counter perfectly sets off the Ann Sacks mosaic tile on my backsplash and wall. I immediately knew the graphic and dramatic, Selvaggio (which means “wild” in Italian) would be a stunning addition. It combines beautifully with my counter.
When I begin a kitchen design with my clients, I start with an extensive questionnaire. We all know that kitchens are the ‘heart of the home’. Today they serve so many functions beyond cooking. A successful kitchen remodel showcases why I “love what I do.”
It serves my clients, creates value, solves problems, builds valuable connections and is a Gestalt. That means it’s bigger than the sum of its parts.
