Design with Ceiling Fans is Year Round

Written by faith

As an interior designer, the ceiling fan is a mixed blessing. Not always attractive (especially ones with light kits) they do have proponents and a place in our homes. Manufacturers adapted to the Energy Star ratings and new models boast 50 percent greater efficiency.  With gas and energy rates rising again that means Americans must tighten their belts even further. It’s time to pay attention to ceiling fans.

As the season begins to change, energy saving takes on greater relevance in our homes. Hot summer temps and high air conditioning bills turned the ceiling fan into a building or improvement staple. In the winter employing the reversible blade option provides a means of circulating the hotter air that rises to the ceiling. This helps save on heating bills when the weather gets cold.

“Consumer demand for more energy-efficient products has driven the industry to integrate new lighting, blade and motor technologies that save operating costs. New products integrating the latest technologies are up to 75 percent more efficient than previous models” says Steve Cox, vice president and general manager of Emerson Ceiling Fans.
