Get Cozy, Beautiful Interiors with Accessories

Written by faith | 0

In Seattle, interior designer Faith Sheridan feels a crispness in the air. What accessories make your home cozy and a beautiful interior too? What about colors to add warmth, comfort and pizazz? Some favorites and go-to resources in this post.

  1. Snuggle comfortably with a vibrant throw. And my absolute first choice are the ones from Williams Sonoma Home~ talk about cutting edge colors + cashmere for that luxurious touch.

    2.  Target now partners with Missoni and this flame-stitch or zig-zag throw offers maximum punch and warmth to a room design.

    3.  Colorful pillows complete the cozy and beautiful design.  I like the covers from West Elm since you can select the insert you like: down for soft or poly for firm.

Exotic, Antique Textiles via Suzanne Rheinstein for Lee Jofa Inspire

Written by faith | 0

The ever gracious Suzanne Rheinstein shared stories on Tuesday at the Kravet Seattle showroom about her new collection for Lee Jofa. I love to design from a collected sensibility for my interior design projects and this exotic collection using antique textile inspirations is a winner for my clients. The exotic element is especially seen in the pattern “Indian Zag”.

Suzanne found the fabric document in Delhi

An excellent example of sophisticated application of a textile in the photo below.

Known for her love of soft greens with yellow and gold overtones, this beautiful print captures movement and detail ~ perfect for draperies I think.

A stunning option for window treatments.

The Dirt Stops Here – Mudroom Design Solutions Revisited – More Tips to Organize

Written by faith | 0

The news from the weather bureau forecast a Seattle winter like last year. Not so good! For this Seattle interior designer, it was an especially wet one with snow and ice. With this news, it’s time to take a look at your mudroom and prepare it for an onslaught of mud plus boots, shoes, hats, gloves, umbrellas and all the other paraphernalia that enters your transition area. Today’s mudroom is an organizational center for busy families sometimes combining pet areas, laundry and crafts. In a previous post, I shared 7 tips for designing a mudroom. You can read it here.

New inspirations are here.  See this image  from California Closets of a dream of a mudroom entrance. Plus, since we love our gadgets, it’s important to consider them in our planning.

Stunning California Closets Mudroom Organization Center

Our mudrooms invite clutter. As we hurry into our home, we quickly discard our stuff and soon the entryway is a mess.  Here’s some tips from Peter Walsh and California Closets. YouTube Preview Image

More tips to contain the clutter and chaos in the entry and mudroom:

  • Create an “out-of-pockets drawer or container” that becomes a great place for extra change, keys, and a wallet.
  • On top, set up a charging center for phones and iPods and a place for your purse so that you are never searching for these items when you are ready to leave.
  • Tackle mail in the front entry by placing a small recycling bin on a shelf or in a cabinet. When you come in the door, junk mail immediately gets recycled, and only the important stuff makes its way into your home.
No matter your reason for an update, it takes planning and coordination to create the results you want.
Press the “Easy Button” and benefit from our extensive experience that will save you time and money.

Crave a Luxurious Bathroom? 10 Tips to Get One

Written by faith | 2

Bathrooms? Yes, this Seattle interior designer creates them often. Why are bathrooms so important? We start our day in the bathroom with a stimulating shower or end the day in a relaxing bathtub. The bathroom supports our lifestyle. And when the important elements of our lives are in harmony we feel confident, rested and relaxed. The best bathrooms capitalize on the available space and are all about the details. The result ~ a perfect setting for daily bathroom activities with creature comforts for our particular tastes. I offer 10 tips for the perfect bathroom and this video with examples of bathrooms created by Faith Sheridan Design GroupYouTube Preview Image

10 Tips to a Luxurious Bathroom

  1. Color Scheme ~ soft, pale colors offer a calm sensation; brighter tones invigorate and energize.
  2. De-Clutter ~ organize the vanity and newly styled medicine cabinets to keep your counter free. Only keep towels, hand soap and a candle on the counter.
  3. Simplify daily tasks ~ Many men shave in the shower-use a fogless mirror. Add an attractive shower organizer for the essentials.
  4. Enhance the ambiance ~ scents, such a lavender, are soothing and relaxing; music delivered by devices for a wet environment get you going or calm you down.
  5. Quality plumbing fixtures ~ get the right size water heater; add air jets to your tub; consider multiple shower heads and/or a handheld shower feature.
  6. Don’t be ordinary ~ carefully examine every purchase and consider how it adds to your visual, sensory experience in your bath right down to the tissue holder!
  7. Add luxury ~ don’t shiver in your bath as baths are all about being warm. Heated floors and towel warmers enhance.
  8. Luxury hotel lessons ~ remember the thick towels, linen shower curtains, unique containers.
  9. Accents ~ beautiful tiles add personalization; art hung on the wall adds color and sophistication.
  10. Safety ~ today a grab bar adds a stylish detail that promotes safety too.

Soothe your senses as you relax in your luxury spa tub. You can enjoy a serene spa-like retreat and restore your spirits. Soft lighting, music and the aroma of a favorite scent are tailor-made accessories for your own private sanctuary away from the stresses and demands of your intense schedule.

Faith’s Fall Fashion Color Forecast for Seattle and Northwest Dwellers

Written by faith | 2

I love reading and seeing the images of Fashion Week and I like to translate them into a Fall color forecast… from this Seattle interior designer’s perspective. Our Seattle weather, sadly, is often sunless… so I like to imagine that color adds some ‘sunlight’ to our interiors. So the colors below offer ideas for accessories like throws, pillows, an ottoman or rug. Perhaps a lone or pair of chairs for some pop in your home.  All colors are from Benjamin Moore.

Faith Sheridan's Fall Forecast

My favorite Fall Fashion colors from Benjamin Moore

Vintage Wine -A warm, coffee-like color is perfect for Seattle

Wasabi – A crisp accent color

August Morning – Add a touch of sunshine all year long

Deep Ocean – Appealing and vibrant blue-green

Hawthorne Yellow – More sun to warm up a room

Merlot Red – Perfect for WA wine lovers

Etruscan – A warm, useful neutral for a cozy interior

Deep Caviar – Lush, rich brown for anchor pieces and wood accents

PAINT PERSONALITY CONSULTATION

Paint color is the framework that expresses your personality and enhances your treasures. Set a mood, feel comfortable in your home- savor the sense of harmony and balance. Colors flow subtly through the rooms like a well-blended Mojito. Schedule your Fall Fashion Analysis to add color in your home.  206.973.3743
