Do You Want an Inspired Backsplash?

Tile design is an important aspect of kitchen design. For current projects for my Seattle interior design firm,  I’m designing tile patterns for bathrooms and kitchens. So many ways to go and I find I like to experiment with same color tile in variations of size and direction. It creates a textured design which can be a color statement with visual interest.  The photo below (from newclement.com) is an example using a glass tile.

One Color Variation

Though the image below is not just one color, it represents a tone-on-tone or monochromatic solution that is appealing visually..and maintains a single size of tile for repetition.  (image from http://www.floatproject.org/)

The next image mixes it up by changing the direction of the tile and using tile in similar colors. Probably one of the easiest ways to change up tile projects is to change the direction of the tile.  (image from homemakeoverdiva.com)
