Day 7 of Design Inspirations – Slipper Chairs

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Recently this expert Seattle interior designer sourced a slipper chair for a project and refreshed my memory of some favorites. The slipper chair is so versatile for additional seating in a conversational grouping or in a bedroom, library and such.  Here are some favorites.

Edward Ferrell Monte Slipper Chair

Lewis Mittman Mustache Chair

Hancock and Moore Aston Slipper Chair

Hickory Chair Avon Armless Chair

Pearson Furniture Perching Chair

Slipper chairs are so named as the small perches Victorian ladies occupied while “slipping” on their shoes.  20th century ladies broadened the use of these versatile little chairs to serve many purposes: an extra chair by the fireside, by the cocktail table, in boudoirs or dressing rooms.   So adaptable to  multiple space and always ready to be “slipped” into position.
