Secrets in Full View on Your Bedside Table

Written by faith | 0

What’s on your bedside table? I am sharing mine.. I love this table from Hickory Chair in a custom finish designed by Alexa Hampton. The pull out tray, drawer and open shelf below make it so functional for this Seattle interior designer.

But I wanted a custom finish which was easy to do with Hickory Chair..

Only thing missing is my IPAD

My bedside table contents remain pretty stable and it holds all my reading materials (which are in constant motion)… the addition of an iPad completes my addiction to reading in bed under the covers. (I removed the cup of tea, which is a ready companion, for this photo.)

I enjoy lounging in bed on the weekends and I keep a notepad in the drawers to jot down ideas.

So what else is on this table?  a pair of reading glasses as I can’t read without them. Wayne Dyer’s daily meditation calendar, family photos so I can see my grandsons, the remnants of an orchid, minus flower, and titles from Bob Burg.

What do you keep on your bedside table? Let me know. Our firm will design your bedroom for your bedside table secrets.

Not Just for Girls’, Pink Adds Drama and Sophistication to Any Room

Written by faith | 0

Not a prank, it’s true that it’s pink in this Seattle interior designers neighborhood ~ or at least when I wrote this on April Fool’s Day. And it came just in time as the gray and rain nearly drove me crazy.. My reward today is the fabulous pink blooms you see below. So let’s talk about pink.

In the PINK on April Fool's Day

Lately, I’m in a color sort of sensibility… all the nuances with a eye to pairing colors and finding places for them. Here are  Benjamin Moore pinks like the lovely blooms on this tree in my neighborhood. Is pink just for females and bedrooms? I don’t think so. Try to PINK a powder room, bathroom, office, foyer or dining room.

Color Specialist Mary Hoffman of Benjamin Moore Says “Embrace Neutral with Pops of Color”

Written by faith | 0

Mary Hoffman knows color ~”As a third generation employee with Benjamin Moore & Co, Mary Hoffman has experienced paint from a diverse perspective.” from Sunset Magazine. So when Mary says, “embrace color’ she means it.

As a Seattle interior designer, I soaked in her message at a presentation at the Kravet showroom. We’re all still mostly neutral but we want some pops of color to punch up our furnishings and walls to set our room and home designs apart.

Enter purple with grays, beiges and a touch of yellow.  One stellar fabric on a pillow, headboard, small chair or ottoman adds the punch that sets an otherwise dull setting apart, thanks to Pollack Fabrics.

Mary Hoffman noted that current fashion = current design and the Fall runway made shades of purple important this season.  Purple is the color for royalties. It stands for luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also the color of passion, romance and sensitivity.
