Thomas O’Brien Moment in NYC at Blogfest 2011

Written by faith | 0

This Seattle interior designer enjoyed a moment and quick conversation with Thomas O’Brien during Blogfest 2011. Seeing Seattle on my name tag he shared that he is currently designing a West Elm store to open this September on Westlake Avenue near Whole Foods.  Seattleites will be pleased to have this resource in this emerging area near the Amazon campus.  But this photo was all about his Lee Jofa collection and the vignette.

Faith with Thomas O'Brien

Here’s a quick overview from Hickory Chair, “For over a decade, Thomas O’Brien has been one of the design industry’s best known modern taste-makers. With a focus on vintage forms translated for modern living, O’Brien’s designs are executed in a spectrum of luxurious materials that are at once elegant and easy, crisp yet anything but cold. This warm, engaging spirit embodies his collaborations.” Listen to his philosophy. YouTube Preview Image

Day 8 of Design Inspirations – Ikats

Written by faith | 0

Since the beginning of my design career, this Seattle interior designer, sought Ikat patterns in my interior design. What is an ikat? Ikats have been woven in cultures all over the world. In Central andSouth America, Ikat is still common in ArgentinaBoliviaEcuadorGuatemala and Mexico. Ikat, or Ikkat, is a style of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft before the threads are woven to create a pattern or design. A Double Ikat is when both the warp and the weft are tie-dyed before weaving.

Here are some favorites… still classics all these years.

Finally, for serious Ikat lovers, a rug.
