Entertaining Outdoors? Camouflage The Box Wine and Design a Perfect Table

Written by faith | 0

Outdoor Spaces and Outdoor Living in Seattle

Outdoor parties are in full swing and large gatherings mean more of everything, like wine.  Today’s box wines are SO improved and the selections are excellent too.  But a festive table means some improvements to the box wine are necessary.  Welcome the House Doctor with this clever and sophisticated camouflage!

The simple white tags maintain the understated look of the containers.

Keep the metal look going with a tray for sharing drinks or appetizers or any of the myriad necessary condiments and tableware.

The traditional riveted construction of Pottery Barn’s  handcrafted galvanized steel tray makes it perfect for entertaining with casual farmhouse style.

Outdoor Accent Lighting For Entertaining and Relaxing Outdoor Spaces

Written by faith | 0

After a sunshine perfect weekend,  Seattle outdoor spaces are settling in for parties, BBQ’s and lazy evenings watching the sunsets on Puget Sound.  Two of my favorite finds that will invite your guests to linger or for you to remain in your chaise lounge are outdoor lights with all-weather durability. Both are from Skyline Design. Relax, entertain and enjoy the lazy summer evenings with all weather outdoor lights.

Outdoor Trellis

Why be generic when you can choose a unique colorful trellis instead? For my outdoor spaces in Seattle, whether on a condo patio or large backyard space, I encourage accessories with color for a uniquely designed concept.

Enter TerraTrellis, a California based company. “TerraTrellises are re-imagined, modern versions of classic garden structures. They are designed not only to support a plant but to integrate with it. This union ultimately forms a work of self- standing, living art in the landscape.”  Colorful, contemporary steel garden trellises, tuteurs and arbors.

The seven color selections allow you to be your own artist and select favorite plants to combine with a color. Have fun by combining an architectural element with color and plants like clematis, roses or tomatoes.

If you don’t live in the Los Angeles area, you can order from the company online and your trellis will be shipped to you (some assembly may be required).

At Faith Sheridan Design Group, we help you achieve your perfect outdoor space.  How can we help you?

The Value of Design Visualization To Clients

Written by faith | 0

Use design visualization for your project

This Seattle interior designer is fortunate to be featured in an article by HomeSavvi, “Visualize design BEFORE you spend”. What’s excellent about the article is the demonstration using ‘before and after’ images for a real client seeking to update an outdoor space.

In all my projects, my team includes  3D For All, a Seattle based company launched by Mary Curley.  Learn about Mary here.

Working together with Mary and the clients, I was able to use images from Gloster Furniture to accurately ‘imagine the outcome of the design concept I proposed.

As I begin work with clients, I offer a design fee of tiered services and two of the three tiers include design visualization. My clients gain confidence about their project and the outcome they desire when the design comes to life in advance of construction.

Imagine seeing your new room before you spend a penny. Remove the stress of design decisions in advance and avoid costly mistakes. Contact Faith Sheridan Design Group for your indoor or outdoor project and experience confidence in the outcome.

How to Select an Outdoor Rug & Add a Color Accent

Written by faith | 1

In my Seattle interior design practice I advise that rugs in outdoor spaces achieve the very same outcome as they do indoors. They define an area for seating, add color and pattern, and offer texture and pizazz too. Today’s outdoor rugs are eye-catching, long lasting and  quite affordable.  Some are indoor options too. Word to the wise – Putting them in a covered area will extend their life.  I’m a fan of Liora Manne for her textile design and her rugs are a great way to add your personality to your outdoor space.

5 Tips for outdoor rug selection –

  1. Place them in a covered area, and clean them (vacuum and hose).
  2. To clean:  hang it up, hose it off, and let it dry completely before putting it back.
  3. The  label should say 100% polypropylene and even better UV stabilized, plus mold, mildew and weather resistant.
  4. Choose a machine-made rugs. They are lighter, dry faster and better suited for exposed areas.
  5. Size instructions: In a seating area, all front legs of furniture should be on the rug. In a dining area, all legs should be on the rug even when chairs are scooted out.
