Loving Landscape Color in the Northwest

Written by faith | 0

This expert Seattle interior designer is delighted to see Tina Dixon acknowledged this past Sunday in the Pacific Northwest insert of the Seattle Times.  Tina is engaging, authentic and brings her own personal style to a project and I am pleased to be co-designing with her on a 900 square foot roof deck facing Lake Washington in Madison Park.

Tina’s signature is color.. not just in her plantings but in her containers.  My clients on this project embrace color as well and thus it’s a great fit and team for everyone.  At at meeting today, the team from Prestige Custom Builders, Matt and Seth, shared their vision for the ‘hardscape’.  I am eager to share this project once we get it moving.  So look for photos as construction gets started.. It will be quick as summer in Seattle will soon beckon us outdoors.

In the meantime, enjoy some of the images from Tina’s story in the Pacific Northwest Magazine.

Mesmerizing Bathroom, Dazzling Art Collection

Written by faith | 0

As my readers know, this expert Seattle interior designer, enjoys the Pacific Northwest magazine in the Seattle Times Sunday edition.  This past Sunday a 2,850-square-foot home with one bedroom, two offices and 2 ½ baths offered images of the art collection of David Pollart  in the Millennium Tower condo. My eyes were dazzled with the depth and breadth of the artists mainly from the Northwest. This is a great story and I encourage readers to enjoy the entire article.

I love to design bathrooms and am a winning designer of a master bath on the HGTV Designer’s Challenge series.  When I see a spectacular one I am mesmerized.

This is the description, “Clint Brown’s life-size plastic woman, whom Pollart calls “Peggy Sue,” stands in the powder room. Reflected in the mirror is Frida Kahlo painted on glass by Walter Lieberman. Pat Richon crafted the walls: Venetian plaster covered with encaustic embedded with thistle seed and banded in stainless steel.”  For some guys, it’s baseball cards. For Pollart, it’s art writes Rebecca Teagarden.

1902 Home Resurrected to its Grandeur

Written by faith | 1

On Sunday, as a curious interior designer, I first peruse the insert into the Seattle Times, Pacific Northwest Magazine. I am seldom disappointed and among the features this week was a story about a home built in 1902.  Love this lead in.

ON MAY 24, 1902, Seattle’s Daily Bulletin carried the notice that “Boone and Corner have recently let to Shannon, White and Middleton the contract for erecting a residence for Judge Stratton in the Denny-Blaine addition. This house, which will have 10 rooms, will cost $7,000. In design it is one of the most attractive in the city. It is expected that the building will be finished in four months.”

In the 100+ years since, numerous owners added layers of paint, their personal inspirations and neglect prior to new owners adding love to this home.  With the capable assistance of the architects at Sullivan Conard  this home now achieves status for classic details and modern enhancements.

Notice how deliberately the team honored the elements and details and remained true to the vision of the family now enjoying their family at the address.
